The Flowers of Romance var ett tidigt anarkopunkband i London tillsammans med andra punkband som Masters of the Backsides och andra band som var lite mindre.
1976 startade bandet repa tillsammans med Jo Faull (gitarr). Flickvänner till Paul Cook och Steve Jones (bandmedlemmar i punkbandet Sex Pistols). Senare tog de in Viv Albertine (gitarr) och Palmolive (trummor). Nu var de kompletta, men saknade sångare som några av de bandmedlemmar som redan fanns tog rollen till.
I mitten av 1977 så började de söka efter en sångare. Sid Vicious föreslog sig själv, efter att ha sjöngit på några klubbar innan. Jo hoppade ur, och ersattes av Steve Walsh (senare journalist). När Keith Levine senare kom in i bandet, så kickade han Palmolive och Sarah och sist Viv. Nu var hela karriären över, och Sid hoppade ur och blev sedan basist i Sex Pistols.
The Flowers of Romance is about ponces, people who pretend to be friends but all they really want is to leech on a good thing and spend your money. The original Flowers of Romance had about 40 fucking members, Keith was one of them and I gave them that name.
